English Classes

Reading and Phonics: 

This course is designed to provide the student with a strong foundation in phonics sounds, high frequency words, and basic reading skills. Students will be introduced to phonics through songs, short videos, games, reading activities, and more.  Students will not only read but will also be able to complete basic reading comprehension skills such as retelling, sequencing, setting, main characters, etc.  These lessons can be modified to the individual student’s needs as well.  Curriculum used: Jolly Phonics and Raz Kids.  Homework will be given as needed. (200 rmb per 30 minute class)

Beginning English:

This course covers levels 1-3 of and include a variety of topics such as; greetings, introductions, colors, names, weather, feelings, activities, prepositions of location, hobbies, school subjects, telling time, adjectives, etc  Students will cover all four areas in each class: reading, listening, speaking, and writing.  Students will be encouraged to speak independently and to express themselves as much as possible.  Students will be placed into the appropriate level after a placement lesson.  Simple homework will be given after each class. (200 rmb per 30 minute class)

Advanced Conversation: 

This class is for the student that needs to practice speaking with a native speaker.  Conversation topics vary and mini grammar lessons to correct errors will be added in as needed.  Students will play games, be given topics at random to speak on, role-play and more.  This class can include homework if needed. (150 rmb per 30 minute class)

Book Club –

Calling all book lovers! This is the class for you!  Students will be given a level and age appropriate list of books to choose from and then we will read it together in and out of class.  Students will be taught many different reading techniques to improve their comprehension and discussion skills, their vocabulary and speaking and writing.  Some writing will be included in this class.  Homework will be to read an assigned chapter before each class and other homework can be given at the discretion of the parent. (200 rmb per 30 minute class)

Test Prep –

This class is to help the student prepare for those upcoming English exams.  Curriculum used unless otherwise requested will be Cambridge Starters, Movers, and Flyers. (200 rmb per 30 minute class)
